Programmes

The British Isles feature in each of the items in this concert programme: the remarkable German soloist Augustin Hadelich plays the First Violin Concerto by Joseph Haydn, who was awarded an honorary doctorate in Oxford. Contemporary English composition is represented by Thomas Adès, whose Violin Concerto constitutes a virtuoso highlight of the evening. After the interval you will then hear Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s world famous ‘Scottish’ Symphony.
