A male Fado star? Surely not? As a Portuguese musician, Camané (real name Carlos Manuel Moutinho Paiva dos Santos Duarte) knows the gentle melancholy of «saudade» inside and out – that mystical Weltschmerz on which Fado is based and that ensures it has devotees all over the world. The cult singer Camané, a fadista of the new generation that includes Mariza, Ana Moura and Carminho, wins over audiences with his unmistakable voice and strong stage presence – and now also with the Tonkunstler Orchestra under the tried and tested direction of their long-term guest conductor Wayne Marshall!
