Available Academy places will soon be published on this page and continually updated. Auditions for the Tonkunstler Academy will be held at the Vienna Musikverein in the second half of this year, beginning in June 2019. Training begins at the start of 2020.

Currently the following positions are to be filled:

Viola, Orchestra Academy

Required piece:
C. Stamitz: Concerto for Viola and Orchestra in D major
or F.A. Hoffmeister: Concerto for Viola and Orchestra in D major
(both 1st movement with cadenza and 2nd movement without cadenza)

Deadline for applying: August 26th, 2019
Audition date: October 8th, 2019
Position begins according to contract.

Horn, Orchestra Academy

Required piece:
R. Strauss: Concerto for Horn and Orchestra in E-flat major op. 11

Deadline for applying: September 27th, 2019
Audition date: November 21st, 2019
Position begins according to contract.

Clarinet (German system) with E-flat Clarinet and Bass Clarinet, Orchestra Academy

Required pieces:
W. A. Mozart: Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra (1st and 2nd movement)
Orchestral excerpts will be in your invitation (no E-flat or bass clarinet jobs).

Deadline for applying: September 13th, 2019
Audition date: November 11th, 2019
Position begins to according to contract.

Letters of invitation and refusal will be sent out after the deadline for applications has passed.
