Kristjan Jarvi (2004-2009)

Kristjan Järvi in GrafeneggBorn in Estonia and brought up in the USA, Kristjan Jarvi is a unique musical personality who is constantly expanding the boundaries of classical music. While cultivating the Tonkunstler Orchestra’s core classical repertoire, he also expanded it in new, innovative directions. Highlights were Bernstein’s “Mass”, Schmidt’s “Buch mit sieben Siegeln” and Gustav Mahler’s version of Beethoven’s Symphony No.9.

Between 2003 and 2009, Kristjan Järvi conducted 176 performances with the Tonkunstler Orchestra – at its residencies in Vienna, St. Pölten and Grafenegg and on a variety of tours. At the Vienna Musikverein alone, Kristjan Järvi and the Tonkunstler Orchestra appeared together 60 times.
