Georg Friedrich Händel
«Messiah» Oratorio in three parts for Soloists, Choir and Orchestra HWV 56

It seems quite amazing that Handel needed just 24 days to compose his famous Messiah. The festive oratorio captivates with its exalted elegance, richness of invention, sparkling orchestration and that typical «Handel sound» in the choruses. No wonder that an enthusiastic King George II sprang to his feet, or so the story goes, at the strains of the «Hallelujah» Chorus. With Britain’s Baroque music maestro Matthew Halls on the rostrum for a select quartet of soloists, the Chorus sine nomine and the Tonkunstler Orchestra, this Grafenegg Messiah will be an equally rousing success! Tip: Enjoy the season with all your senses and take advantage of your concert ticket for a pre-concert visit to the traditional Grafenegg Advent market with regional delicacies and crafts in a seasonal setting!
