The concert has begun, the orchestra is playing the opening chords, when suddenly a lady enters the hall. All eyes are on her. She is invited onto the stage by the conductor and begins to tell a story: of George Gershwin, the great pianist, of her secret love for him in 1920s New York and of their reunion in Paris. The journey continues to famous melodies from the Broadway musicals of the time; the audience dances the Charleston and experiences the music in a humorous parade of images.
