«BartolomeyBittmann & Alma»

Curtains up for the Tonkunstler’s much-loved Plugged-In series! The new season launches with a coup: «BartolomeyBittmann» and «Alma», two internationally successful ensembles, represent the young generation of Austrian musicians in outstanding style. Both embody an approach to Austrian music culture that is both innovative and conscious of tradition, and for the first time here they can be heard against the sonic backdrop of a symphony orchestra. While the five-strong band «Alma» breathes new life into old traditions, lustily combining down-to-earth folk music with complex arrangements, Matthias Bartolomey (cello) and Klemens Bittmann (violin and mandola) take instruments anchored in the classical tradition into new territory. Spontaneity and a jazz-like love of improvisation can be expected from this unusual encounter, along with a tongue-in-cheek nod to Austrian folk music. Pleasure for both musicians and listeners is guaranteed!
