Gottfried von Einem
Tanz-Rondo op. 27
- interval -

Gottfried von Einem was one of the most famous Austrian composers of the modern era. The Tonkunstler Orchestra plays von Einem’s «Tanz-Rondo» in his honour as the music world celebrates his centenary in 2018. «He is not only a virtuoso but also a poet», wrote Heinrich Heine of Frédéric Chopin. Beatrice Rana returns to the Tonkunstler with Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1. The Italian pianist captivated her audience in Music Director Yutaka Sado’s debut concert with the orchestra. For the finale of this programme, he has selected Jean Sibelius’s Fifth Symphony with its famous «Swan Hymn».
