Programmes

There is probably no musical centre in the world that hasn’t been graced by a visit of Sabine Meyer in her career of over 30 years. The German clarinettist, who, in 1983, was engaged by Herbert von Karajan as the first female Berlin Philharmonic, has played guest performances with over 300 orchestras at home and abroad. She has decided to play Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s clarinet concerto with the Tonkunstler. It is one of the few works in classical music the mere mention of which is a sounding invitation. Music Director Yutaka Sado emphasises once more his commitment to the great European tradition of symphonic music, opting for compositions by Joseph Haydn and Johannes Brahms. Music by Haydn and Brahms was also part of the programme of his inaugural concert with the Tonkunstler in October 2015.
