Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
- interval -

In his third guest appearance with the Tonkunstler, Robert Trevino has once again set himself a formidable task: After performing Anton Bruckner’s «Romantic», he now turns to the composer’s Third Symphony, often dubbed the «Wagner Symphony». At the time of its composition, however, Bruckner had little luck with this work dedicated to the «master of all masters». At its premiere in front of the Viennese public in the Great Hall of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde (now known as the Musikverein) in 1877, the piece was a hopeless flop. Ninety years previously, by contrast, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart enjoyed a very different reception. When he wrote his Piano Concerto in G major K. 453, he had long been a star in Vienna. And pianist Elena Bashkirova will demonstrate exactly why.
