Asmik Grigorian und Fabien Gabel
Grafenegg FestivalDescription
A world star overnight: Lithuanian soprano Asmik Grigorian sang and performed her way to the top of the international opera world as the sensational Salome at the 2018 Salzburg Festival. Her most recent successes include the title role in Vincenzo Bellini’s «Norma» at the Theater an der Wien. She debuts in Grafenegg with «Casta Diva», the opening cavatina of Norma, and the final scene of Salome. Orchestral counterpoints to Bellini and Richard Strauss are provided by the Tonkunstler Orchestra under its Chief Conductor Fabien Gabel with the ballet music from Giuseppe Verdi’s «Macbeth» and the short, virtuoso orchestral piece «Salomé» by French composer Mél Bonis. In his «Fontane di Roma», Ottorino Respighi captured the magic of Italy in orchestral splendour à la Richard Strauss.
