Hänsel und Gretel

The story of «Hansel and Gretel»: Who doesn’t know it? This scenic concert takes children aged four and up into the fantastic fairytale world of the Brothers Grimm. It’s based on a work commissioned by «Tonspiele», the music education department of the Tonkunstler Orchestra, from the Krems-born composer Matthias Werner – a piece of chamber music that manages without words because sounds, images, play and movement speak for themselves! Five orchestra members take their audience on a journey full of colour and adventure. They tell the story of Hansel and Gretel standing up to their fears and finally returning home stronger and more confident. A fairytale, perhaps the best-known of them all, is given a new guise. Add in some visual abundance and outstanding live music – and you have an intense atmosphere full of fun and excitement.
