Concert tours have always played an important role in the Tonkunstler Orchestra’s artistic portfolio. During their first tour of Germany together, the Tonkunstler and their Music Director Yutaka Sado performed their acclaimed debut in the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg on 16 March 2019. Their performance of the Symphony No. 5 by Gustav Mahler was greeted with standing ovations from the audience – all the more reason to record the concert in the highest-quality audio and video and release it as a Blu-ray disc on the orchestra’s own label.

            Moving stormily, with the greatest vehemence.
Part 2: Scherzo. Powerful, not too fast.
Part 3: Adagietto. Very slow.
