Programmes

Georg Friedrich Händel
«Messiah» Oratorio in three parts for Soloists, Choir and Orchestra HWV 56

Absolutely everyone knows this «Hallelujah»! For many music-lovers, particularly in the English-speaking world, George Frideric Handel’s «Messiah» is an essential part of the Christmas season. So it’s a double pleasure that British conductor Ivor Bolton returns to the podium for this fulminant oratorio. In doing so, he continues the series of choral-symphonic works with which he has enjoyed great success alongside the Tonkunstler Orchestra in recent years. In union with renowned solo performers and the concert choir Interpunkt, this concert promises Baroque glamour in harmony with all the rules of historically informed musicianship – and, where it makes sense and is feasible, on early instruments, as was recently done with Joseph Haydn’s «Seasons».
