Programmes

At virtually no notice, the German conductor Jakob Lehmann stepped in at the Brucknerfest Linz 2022 – and on top of that with a programme of demanding rarities by composers who were banned by the Nazis. Thanks to Lehmann’s confident performance on this occasion, he now returns on a planned visit to the Tonkunstler Orchestra podium – with a somewhat more familiar but nonetheless unusual repertoire. In Felix Mendelssohn’s Double Concerto, Kirill Maximov on the violin and Kateryna Diadiura on the piano enter into subtle dialogues with each other and with the orchestra. This is supplemented with Anton Bruckner’s rambunctious, compelling Second, which marks his finding of himself as a symphonist.
