Conditions
- Admission to the Tonkunstler Academy generally takes place on 15th September or, if necessary, during the concert season.
- The total length of the course is two years, with the first half-year considered as a probationary period.
- The training period will be terminated early should the participant begin a fixed orchestral position before the scheduled close of the course. The training period may be extended to three years in exceptional cases.
- Academy participants receive a monthly salary of around Euro 1,000 gross, to be adjusted yearly.
- Academy participants are required to perform an average of 15 services per month. These include participation in rehearsals, concerts and opera, ballet and dance performances.
- In addition to active participation in orchestral performance, all rehearsals, performances and concerts are open for the young musicians to attend.
- Academy students are required to participate in four chamber music concerts.
- The selection of Academy participants will be made following formal auditions.
- All Academy participants receive the NÖKU card, with which they can discover nearly all the diverse offerings of the NÖKU Group free of charge. The card gives Tonkunstler Academy participants the opportunity to attend concerts at Grafenegg and the Festspielhaus St. Pölten, and to experience all events and programmes offered by the museums and theatres within the NÖKU Group.
Requirements
- Completed higher education degree (at least Bachelor)
- Maximum age at the time of admission to the Academy is 27 years (older in exceptional circumstances)
- Call for applicants is not limited to location
- Applicants under 20 years are requested to submit a letter of recommendation from their teacher or a member of an orchestra indicating that the applicant is currently in the last phase of his or her professional training.
Successful applicants are required to reside within proximity to the orchestra's rehearsal locations.
