As part of the focus on Beethoven, the Tonkunstler Orchestra and Simone Young re-explore two classics by Beethoven. In his Triple Concerto from 1804, the composer was searching for relaxation in the «French style» while carrying on with his meticulous work on the «Eroica», the 5th Symphony and the «Appassionata». Only four years later, Beethoven came back to the idea of describing the natural world of his homeland. He noted: «In the country it seems as if every tree said to me: holy! holy! Who can give complete expression to the ecstasy of the woods!?» In his 6th Symphony, Beethoven did just that. He gave a sound to nature in all its fascination.
