«Freedom/Extasis»
- interval -

«This symphony is the apotheosis of dance itself», Richard Wagner once wrote in his enthusiasm for Ludwig van Beethoven’s Seventh. Two hundred years after its acclaimed first performance, Sasha Waltz addresses the dance˗like qualities of Beethoven’s work. At the same time, the acclaimed choreographer will also examine the symphony’s political dimension. Together with the Tonkunstler Orchestra conducted by Titus Engel and a cast of 13 dancers, she reflects on social forces and personal freedoms. With the added bonus of a commissioned work by composer Diego Noguera, the evening offers a brilliant and multi˗faceted Gesamtkunstwerk.
