He called himself a «dazzling jungle bird from the Amazon». The Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos opens this luxuriant programme in which the songs of various birds become the symbol of an untouched, dreamily beautiful nature. Jun Märkl, one of the Tonkunstler Orchestra’s favourite guest conductors, continues his many years of collaboration with the orchestra with, as it were, a kaleidoscope of bright feathers – including an English skylark, Austrian swallows and two nightingales, one Franco-Russian and one Italian: big sounds inspired by small creatures.
