It’s a curious accident of musical history that it was primarily French composers who served as midwives to a Spanish national style in the 19th century, before their colleagues beyond the Pyrenees found their way back to their musical roots. Under the baton of Venezuelan conductor Domingo Hindoyan, the Tonkunstler Orchestra celebrates the Spanish art of living in the work of great French composers – including Ravel’s classic Boléro. A «genuine» Spaniard joins in as soloist: María Dueñas, who won first prize in the Yehudi Menuhin Competition 2021.
