Programmes

Thomas Larcher’s music brings into sound a beauty that doesn’t shut itself from sorrow and pain. In his absorbing works, reality and utopia come together. The Tonkunstler audience knows all about him, for example his choral symphony «Alle Tage» – incidentally, when the orchestra eternalised that work on CD, it was alongside the violin concerto performed here and by the same soloist, Benjamin Beilman. The fabulous Finnish conductor Hannu Lintu brings his expertise to this partnership with the Tonkunstler Orchestra. Here we enjoy it splendidly framed between Franz Schubert’s festive sounds and Béla Bartók’s brilliant staging of orchestral colours and moods.
